  11.                               FEATURES OF DMAIL

  13. DMAIL is an advanced mailing list system for all MS-DOS microcomputers. It has
  14. the following features:

  17. -> Uses pull-down menus and pop-up windows to maximize ease-of-use.

  19. -> Includes a built-in help system. Press the F1 key at any time for help.

  21. -> Includes user-defined fields that can be used for searches and sorts.

  23. -> Maintains any number of lists - limited only by disk space.
  24.  
  25. -> Classifies addresses with key words or your own coding system.
  26.  
  27. -> Sorts addresses on any of nine sort keys.

  29. -> Copies selected addresses from one list to another.

  31. -> Creates mailmerge data files for Wordperfect, Microsoft Word and Wordstar.

  58.                              SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  60. -> IBM-PC, PS/2, or compatible.
  61. -> A hard disk drive.
  62. -> 640 KB of memory.
  63. -> Any impact printer
  64. -> Optional - HP LaserJet III or work-alike laser printer. If your laser
  65.    printer is not an HP look at your printer's manual to see if it has a
  66.    LaserJet III emulation mode.

  69.                           OFFICE SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS

  87.                               INSTALLING DMAIL
  88.  
  89. DMAIL is supplied as an archive file called "DMAIL6.ZIP". It contains all
  90. the files you need. Follow these steps to get a functioning system onto your
  91. hard drive:
  92.  
  93. 1 - At the "C:>" prompt create a new directory on your hard drive:
  94.  
  95.                    MD DMAIL          <press enter>
  96.  
  97. 2 - Using an archive un-packing utility, unpack the contents of DMAIL6.ZIP
  98. into the new directory.
  99.  
  100. 3 - Check for a file called "CONFIG.SYS" in the root directory of the startup
  101. drive. If it is there it should contain the following statements with the
  102. minimum values shown:
  103.  
  104.                    FILES = 20
  105.                    BUFFERS = 8
  106.  
  107. You can see the contents of the file just by typing:
  108.  
  109.                    TYPE CONFIG.SYS       <press enter>
  110.  
  111. If these statements are absent you can use any text editor to insert them. If
  112. the file does not exist, you can easily create one with the following steps:
  113.  
  114. 1 - Go to the root directory:
  115.  
  116.                    CD\                   <press enter>
  117.  
  118. 2 - Create a file called CONFIG.SYS and put the two lines in it:
  119.  
  120.                    COPY CON CONFIG.SYS   <press enter>
  121.                    FILES = 20            <press enter>
  122.                    BUFFERS = 8           <press enter>
  123.  
  124. 3 - Close the file:
  125.  
  126.                    <press F6  then  press  enter>
